Hey and wow, we really needed an update! Why didn't any of you guys say anything to us? Okay, well I think I have a pretty good update and it's about something I've been thinking about for awhile now. Okay, well, on friday March 10th, my youth group and some friends and leaders from my church participated in a 30 hour famine. We had a lot of fun and we saved lives. Well if you don't know what a 30 hour famine is, it's when you don't eat for 30 hours ( to get a small taste of hunger,) and you collect donations ( the money goes to World Vision and they use it to feed starving people all around the world.) Well you have to go around and ask people to donate money and most people are more than glad to give, but I had a few people tell me "No." Well, our group raised over $1000 and counting. But the topic I want to discuss has to do with what one of the people said to me.

"Doesn't that money go towards feeding like kids in Africa and places like that?"  "Yeah", I replied. "Well," they said, "I think we should focus on feeding kids in our own country before we start worrying about other countries, I mean you don't see them trying to help us." I was kinda stunned at this reply. " The money does go to feed kids in Africa, It goes to feed kids everywhere, including America."

That was pretty much the extent of the conversation. Well, when we got to the church, Phil, Jennie and I talked about it. Phil said exactly what I was thinking: "That sounds really selfish." And it does. God doesn't only care about the people in heaven, he cares about everyone. To say "Let's forget about our fellow humans across the sea, they can starve. Let's focus on our country." Yeah why not, our country full of materialistic, power hungry, egotistic, leading figures, who could be doing so much about it but are to worried about their next big publicity stunt. We have the power to do something about it but other countries don't. And they are our fellow humans, and to let them starve to death, it's inhamane, it's cruel,...and it's breaking God's heart.

Matthew 25:40 says: "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did to me.'

So by letting your fellow man starve to death, you're letting God starve to death. Think about  that next time you eat lunch, or when someone asks you to donate for this or related causes, or when you see statistics like:  "29,000 children die every day from hunger or hunger related causes, that's almost 1 child dying everytime you take a breath"

why we are here - phil morris

why are we here
what is our meaning
what is our purpose
i mean just think about it
when the world was created
why where we made
God sais he wanted our love
and he gave us rules to protect us
from the dangers of the world
and then we as people
twisted thoes rules to our personal gain
and God had to send his only son
to die for you and me
his son showed us how we should live our lives
so much care and love
from a God we cant see
so why are we here
is this life we are living now on earth
the most important part of our being
i think not
i mean if a God gives his own son
so that we would be saved
and go to live with him after death
there must be somthing really good for us
and somthing really bad
if we dont follow the ruls
so then why do we focus
on the life were living now
when we could be trying to get our loved ones
to go with us to that holy place after we die
in stead of leting them die in hell
there has to be a reason why we are created
and to me that reason of life is to go to heaven
and be with Jesus
and to light up the path to heaven
for my loved ones to see.

this was taken from spiderman 2 when aunt may was talking to peter while he was on vacation from being spider man and she was packing boxes.

He knows a hero when he sees one. Too few characters out there, flying around like that, saving old girls like me. And Lord knows, kids like Henry need a hero. Courageous, self-sacrificing people. Setting examples for all of us. Everybody loves a hero. People line up for them, cheer them, scream their names. And years later, they'll tell how they stood in the rain for hours just to get a glimpse of the one who taught them how to hold on a second longer. I believe there's a hero in all of us, that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble, and finally allows us to die with pride, even though sometimes we have to be steady, and give up the thing we want the most. Even our dreams.

we all got a hero his name is Jesus..

jsut someting to keep in mind.

CHRISTMAS. What does that mean to you? Does it mean presents, and a christmas tree, and santa, and milk and cookies, and christmas carols? Yeah sure those things are great, but that's not what Christmas is about. Christmas is to celebrate Jesus's birth. Our savior, the greatest gift anyone could ever get. God gave us this gift, to pay for our sins. And how do we repay him?....... we completely forget what christmas is all about... we cancel church services ( yeah i know that's terrible, my preacher told us some churches did that)..we worry so much about what we're getting that we forget what we have....   It's sad. CHRISTmas wouldn't be CHRISTmas without CHRIST!!!  We need to remember that. We need to remember we were given the greatest gift of all!! A chance at eternal life!!  well right now,I don't know if I'm havin a writers block or what, but i can't think of anything else to add. I can always add more if i need to!!!        ~christa
